Question: sounds like rods knocking an FIRST cold start,
My engine sounds like the rods are knocking when I start it for the first time after setting overnight. It is warm (even hot ) here in Hawaii at night so a "cold" start would be just an initial start. The noise only lasts about 1 second and the engine sounds normal after. If I start it again, even after setting a few hours there is no noise at all. There seems to be no indication of low oil pressure at any time. I use Mobil 1, 1w40 with Lucas oil stabilizer ( for synthetic oils) There is 105k miles on it and I am second owner.
