Question: my a/c compressor wont stay on unless jumped

i have a 1995 nissan maxima and my a/c compressor wont come on unless i jump it. i just bought the compressor from a local autozone and i took it home and put 100 pag oil in it and changed the o rings on the lines and charged it up. the next day the compressor clutch wouldnt come on and iit was blowing hot air. i bought some freon with leak finder in it shot it i the system and the next day and the system was empty and not a trace of the leak finder was found anywhere. does anybody know what the problem, it because i didnt vacuum the system first did the air in the system destroy the freon and why do i have to jump the compressor
