Question: do i need the oil pan and the valve gasket

car is leaking oil badly and smoking

First try and locate where the oil is coming from. I have a 98 neon and the cam shaft seal started leaking. It looked like it was coming from the oil filter at first, but when I got a good look at it the oil was coming from above the oil filter mounting.

The fix is replace the seal. The hard part, might as replace the timing belt since you have to remove it to replace the cam shaft seal.
